Sofie is cruising now. Samantha is learning what happens if you leave something out and Sofie gets it, i.e. whatever it is gets very soggy! Last night the girls were playing "The Clapping Game", which is Sam clapping at Sofie, followed by Sofie clapping at Sam. Very cute!

"The Dad"
Here are a few things that I love about "The Dad":
- His storytelling ability is unrivaled. He can make up a story that is sensical and hilarious in a second and Sam remembers them all!
- He "walks the walk" without any superiority. He does things because "it's the right thing to do". We are so proud of him!

- When he cooks, it's yummy yummy in your tummy tummy!
- For the "S girls", he's our biggest supporter, favorite playmate, best friend and pillar of strength that keeps us going strong!
Yeah, we love him!

Accidents and Zoos
Yesterday I took the girls (Samantha, Sofia and Grammy) to the Minnesota Zoo to see the new Grizzly Bear exhibit. It really is well-done that the bears are up close and you can really see them. The down side for my family is that Samantha (3 1/2 years) was terrified. The situation was remedied by me showing her the lava tube (a.k.a. tunnel) that we could play in and go through.
When I first mentioned going to the Zoo, Sam remembered the playground and asked if we could play there. 2 minutes into playing, she stopped on the bridge and had that look.
"I HAD AN ACCIDENT!", she screamed at me, still standing frozen on the sand. I had a change of clothes, which were red-striped pants that clashed wonderfully with the blue and pink butterflies shirt that she insisted on keeping and the pink Dora crocs. I tried to minimize the clashing by rolling up the pant legs, but one kept falling down adding to the hilarity. Grammy and I had a good laugh at the fashion train wreck that was Samantha at the Zoo!
I should mention also that nursing in an observation bubble at Discovery Bay watching sharks and other fish swim by is the strangest place I've ever fed Sofia. It was isolated and somewhat serene though!

Sofie eating "solid" food
The joys of motherhood... Just when I had the nursing thing down, it all changes. Solid food already! Sofie's 2 bottom teeth can be seen and not only felt, she is visibly excited about cereal now. (The pictures show her first time!)
I know I'm supposed to embrace change, but I'm taking a moment to reflect that already at 6 months, my newest baby is taking the world by storm and growing. While I'm glad for that and I realize that life is short I can still be sad that my babies are getting so big even if I'm in love with who they are!
Here's a picture of Samantha's first time with solids too. I remember Grammy was there instructing Jason and I to give her a drink from the bottle after every spoonful. She was just over 4 months old!

Intent of this blog
I came across blogging from other mommy-type friends who have struggled with keeping baby books. I'm following their lead and giving up the guilt for something that is less tangible than a book, but also offers much more than a traditional book. Hopefully in the years to come, our friends and family will enjoy the posts as they represent a realistic view of our lives.
That's it?
I think I just started a blog...
I just typed a few things here and there and I get the message it's time to start blogging! I don't know why, but I thought it would be more difficult.
